Sustainable fishing
Patagonian toothfish fishing,MSC labeledis subject to some of the strictest and most controlled regulations in the world.A catch quotais defined each year and then redistributed among the vessels in order topreserve this magnificent resource.
Only7 French longlinershave the authorization to face the extreme conditions of thearea of the Kerguelen and Crozet islandsto deploy lines of 40 kilometers, more than 1500 meters deep. This selective and seabed-friendly techniquethus allows tosignificantly reduce environmental impacts(prohibition on the practice of gillnets and bottom trawls, limitation of the depths of fishing areas, minimum catch size of 60 centimeters, etc.)

A reasoned practice
Antarctic waters are home toecosystems among the most exceptional in the world. A resource that French fishermen strive to preserve; by actively participating in a large number ofscientific and exploratory studies, by applyingconservation measures set out in the Convention for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)– in particular those relating to the protection of birds.
